Enligt flera källor är det nu klart att bröderna Coen tänker filmatisera Michael Chabons roman The Yiddish Policemen’s Union."The novel is an alternate history detective story based on the premise that after World War II, a temporary Yiddish-speaking settlement for Jewish refugees was established in Alaska in 1941." En film med kombinationen Coen/Chabon har alla förutsättningar att lyckas, och Chabon själv verkar lika entusiatisk som som jag är:
"They are among my favorite living moviemakers. Three or four of their films are on my all-time favorite list. They are geniuses. What's more, I think they are perfectly suited to this material in every way, from its genre(s) to its tone to its content. I can't wait to see what they eventually do with it."
Jag har länge velat läsa TYPMU och jag väntar faktiskt på att den engelska pocketutgåvan ska släppas, vilket den gör nu i Mars. Filmen har planerad premiär 2010, så jag lär nog hinna före.
